WR Fundraising Recruitment

Development Lead

London OR Cornwall with hybrid working | Circa £50,000 per annum | Full Time, Permanent

We are WR Fundraising Recruitment and we are thrilled to be working with an international charity which is working hard to protect and restore the world’s oceans. This hugely important charity is now seeking a Development Lead to spearhead their fundraising in the UK.

We're looking for a candidate with a strong track record in securing grants and major donations, as well as a broad understanding of the various income streams, who can lead on the development of a sustainable and UK-specific fundraising strategy. As Development Lead, you’ll be a master of stewardship, capable of fostering meaningful and long-lasting relationships with a range of donors, both in the UK and beyond.

As Development Lead you’ll play a crucial role in curating, growing, and diversifying the charity’s fundraising and partnerships portfolio. Working closely with UK colleagues and the US-based Development Team, you will cultivate and manage relationships with major environmental foundations and philanthropists.

This is an amazing opportunity for a Development Lead to join an organisation with global impact, and really shape the future of their operations within the UK!

Duties will include:

  • Developing and implementing a tailored UK fundraising strategy, focusing on grant acquisition from trusts, foundations, and individual philanthropists
  • Identifying, developing, and managing grant applications and budgets, working closely with the international development team
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with existing funders
  • Developing the charity’s fundraising portfolio, including diversifying the income streams and identifying smaller grant opportunities
  • Developing and managing a calendar of fundraising events

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have extensive experience in fundraising and development, with a strong background in trusts and foundations, or major donor fundraising
  • Be a persuasive and versatile communicator, capable of building and maintaining strong and impactful relationships
  • Have a proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with trusts, foundations, and individual philanthropists
  • Be experienced in co-developing and diversifying fundraising strategies, including mass giving and digital, as well as writing strategic plans and contributing to planning and budgeting processes
  • Have experience of using CRM and grant-management systems
